Jodie Marsh: Bodybuilding has given me body dysmorphia – Now Magazine Online

Jodie Marsh says she has body dysmorphia as a result of her bodybuilding.

‘I’m not looking at my best now,’ she says.

‘I haven’t been to the gym for four months, as I’ve been busy filming my new TV programme in the US. It doesn’t bother me that much – I know as soon as I start working out again, I’ll be back in shape in three weeks.

‘It sounds crazy, but when I look in the mirror, I see someone who is fat and out of shape.

‘Bodybuilding has given me body dysmorphia – I’ve seen myself at my physical best and this is not it.’

Jodie, 34,  shrinks down to a size zero when she is training, thanks to a punishing regime of weights, ab work and cardio, and a diet of protein shakes, egg whites and vegetables.

Despite her tendency to be self-critical when not going to the gym regularly, Jodie credits her bodybuilding  transformation with getting her life on track.

‘You’ll never feel bad from going to the gym and making an effort,’ she tells Fabulous. ‘Everyone has a responsibility to look after their body.’
